Happy Birthday, COLLIN!!

Things have been very busy lately, with a 2 week vacation. I thought it was suppose to be a VACATION!! Now, I REALLY need one! Had a great time in Vicksburg, Ms., touring the old historic city. And, on to Los Angeles/Hollywood. That was an interesting one! Was in the audience of the Dr. Phil Show, which airs Monday, Dec. 14. We were seated just behind Robin, on the very back row. On to more important things: Yesterday, my oldest GRANDson celebrated his 15th birthday. I see a tempo. driver's license in his future!! What a great kid Collin has been, and our family is blessed that he is one of ours! Happy Belated Birthday, Collin(and many more)!! I love you! P.S....................I did it again......I mailed the card before scanning it. I think I just need to chill'. But, here is a little of what was on the card. :-)

Happy Anniversary to ME!

Is it OK to wish myself a Happy Anniversary? After all, it takes lots of love and effort to be able to celebrate each year. I am very happy that God has blessed us with 13 years of marriage. We plan to "get out of town" for the day, and "pass a good time". As for my card to him, every KING OF THE JUNGLE needs a QUEEN, don't you think? As always, thanks for looking!

HALLOWEEN

Halloween is a festival that takes place on October 31. In the US, children wear costumes on Halloween and go trick-r-treating. Many carve jack-o'-lanterns out of pumpkins. I am not in favor of Halloween, and am very grateful for families and churches that provide an alternative. I do send out cards to my GRANDchildren, so for the next few weeks leading up to the big event, I will post a couple each week.

Sunday, September 27, 2009

I did it again!!!! When will I ever learn. Please tell me that old age doesn't have a thing to do with it? Today is my son's birthday. I created him a card, and mailed it to him before scanning, so that I could share it with you. I have done this too many times before. It has GOT to stop. Instead, I will share a picture of him and his family with you. David, Mom wishes you a very special birthday. What a delight it has been to have had you for a son. I love you dearly, and wish you a blessed year.

Happy Birthday, Ms. Pat!

I really should have posted this yesterday, but guess I was a tab busy with things going on during this Labor Day weekend. Anyway, Ms. Pat is celebrating her 82nd birthday today. I ran by the nursing home Friday and left her card. I intended to visit with her, but she had gone home for a visit. I certainly hope she has a great day. Please notice on the card, that the actual edges are rounded, so the black area that is showing, is not on the original card. Thanks to all of you that follow my blog. Will have a couple more post this week. :-)

Happy Anniversary

At the heart of mankind's existence, is the desire to be intimate and to be loved by another. Marriage is designed to meet that need for intimacy and love. Aug 19 my son David, and his wife Misti, will be celebrating another Anniversary together. What a precious gift for them to give to their daughter. Wishing you a most wonderful Anniversary, and a very blessed year.

My Birthday Prayer

Sharing with you another birthday card that I received. This is not handmade, but I thought it was so sweet. It is my birthday prayer. The inside reads: "Dear Lord, please bless this special friend with every good thing You can send---fill each moments with delights, sunny days, and starry nights, gratifying things to do, a little miracle or two---Gracious Lord, hold my friend close, grant each day what's needed most---and may these blessing never end...Thank You for such a special friend". I want to thank Vivian, who is my husband's first cousin, and her husband, Lloyd, for sending this special birthday prayer to me.

August 3

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!!! Yes, today is my birthday. Can you believe I have never had a birthday party in my life? But, the good Lord willing, next year, I plan to do so. Until then, I continue to make my little Chocolate Yummy dessert(I'm not real crazy about cakes), and enjoy the calls, gifts, warm wishes, and cards. Speaking of cards, for the next few days, I am going to post some of the hand made cards that I receive. Since I have already received this one, I will share it with you today. My niece, Peggy, send me this stair-step card, and I think it is so cute. Thanks a bunch, Peggy!!

Happy Anniversary!

My dear friend and her husband are going to be celebrating her 2nd Anniversary soon. Wish you could see how the card opens, but I'll try to explain. The front opens with the scalloped circle. Loved the embellishment, and thought it would go together with the paper I chose for her card.

Country

Within the next week, I will be posting several cards. Sometimes I have few to post, and at other times, more. I guess this card could have been used for other occasions, but I made it for a birthday card, masculine at that. Think it will fly?? I certainly hope so now, because it is already in the mail. As always, thanks for looking!

Another Sympathy

Oh, Geez! My last card posted was a Sympathy, and here I am needing another Sympathy. That means another family is hurting. I am thinking of them today, and lifting them up in prayer.

God IS...

Heaven has another angel in its choir today. A wonderful lady named Ramona, passed away Friday. My sympathy is extended to the family during this difficult time. "God IS", and that settles it! Yet the rest of the verse says..."our refuge and strength, therefore we will not fear". I hope this Bible verse is a comfort, not only to this family, but to you that are viewing my blog, as well. Thanks for looking!

Celebrate!

Celebrate good times, Come On!! Creating masculine cards are hard for me, along with several other themes. I needed one, and thought this would do. The image is by Diamonds. I certainly hope Lloyd enjoyed his card, and is celebrating today another special birthday. Thanks for looking, and following my blog!

Special Grandchildren

I was so blessed last week to have all my family home. Both my sons and their families were here, and I enjoyed spending time with them. We shopped, we went to Chuck-E-Cheese's and Steamboat Bill's, rode the 4-wheeler, rode the tractor, attended VBS, and on-n-on. I had such a good time, but all the fun ended way too soon, and I had to let them all go on their separate ways. Will share a picture of my 4 grandchildren. Aren't they just the cutest?

Happy Father's Day!

When choosing an idea for a Father's Day card for my husband, I decided to go with a humorous one. He has been really busy lately, getting a new pole barn put up, and slab. With this Louisiana heat, it really has drained him. So, I thought I'd see if I could put a smile on his face for his special day. Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there. Wish my Dad was still living for me to have the opportunity to wish him greetings today. What a difference one day can make. So, if you still have your Dad/Husband, let him know you care. TFL

Happy Birthday CATIE!

There is a little lady in our family that calls my DH "Paw Paw Tim", and she recently celebrated another birthday. I made this card for her, and it was very simple. You, too, could make one within minutes. I got an old wallpaper book, and cut out this little hippo.(I thought it was so cute), attached it to cardstock, added ribbon and brads, and it is as simple as that. Think outside the box on things you can use on your cards. TFL

Flower Pot Card

Can you believe this? Yesterday I posted my flower pot card that Dolores had brought to me when she came to visit. Today, I received this flower pot card in the mail from my friend, Deb. How strange is that to receive 2 cards almost alike, from 2 different friends, one living in SD, and one in KS! Thanks so much, Deb, for thinking of me. Deb is another card-making friend of mine that I would like to meet some day. Pay her blog a visit at:

Thinking Of You

Several years ago I was asked to be a designer for a company that sold card making kits. The first gal already on the team to welcome me, was Dolores. She and I became good friends on the Internet. Then, about 2 1/2 years ago, we both met in Branson(she lives in SD and I live in LA), and I got to "see" her for the first time. Our friendship has continued over the years, and she has become very dear to me. What a thrill I had recently to learn that she and part of her family would be making a quick trip to the wonderful state of Louisiana. And guess what? Her DH was so sweet to bring her by my house for a short visit. Thanks a bunch, Mel. Dolores brought me some card making supplies as a little surprise , and some were handmade. Aren't I special!! Sharing with you the card Dolores brought to me. It is just darling. She even brought me the pattern for it. Thanks so much, Dolores, for just being a very special friend to me.

Get Well Soon!

My niece, Peggy, went in for back surgery today. My last update was that all went well, and I am very grateful. I know she would appreciate your prayers in this long recovery period. It's gonna be hard on her to slow down, with all the "irons in the fire" that she has. I made her this Get Well card. It is a stair-step card, which is made by just scoring on a piece of cardstock to make your creases, and then decorate. It folds up very nicely for mailing. Thanks so much for looking.

Have Fun!

I know a special little guy that is going to celebrate his birthday this weekend. How is he so special......well, he is our grandson, and that REALLY makes him special. Wishing you a very Happy Birthday, Chase. And we do hope you "HAVE FUN"! As for the card, the background of the image is baby blue, and did not show up on the scan. It really does look much better IRL, trust me! And, WHY didn't I ink the edges? Baby blue against the white........DUH, Joyce! "It is NOT a Sr. Moment", I tell myself. TFL

GRADUATION!

It is that time of year, when our graduates get to send out special invitations to family and friends, to attend a very important event in their lives, their High School Graduation. Two young ladies from our church, sent me an invitation, along with their picture. I have been knowing both of them most of their lives. Wanting to do something special for them, instead of making a "normal" card, I made them each a little purse, and included some $$. In their gift bag, I wrote them each a letter, and was able to include in one of them, a little drawing she had made for me when she was about 5 years old, that I have kept over the years. Memories, memories. Anyway, gonna share their little purses with you. Hope you like them. As always, thanks for looking at my creations.
