Where's Johnny's Cap?

I realize the official Thanksgiving Day holiday is over, but every day should be a day of Thanksgiving for us:

A story is told about a family that went on a picnic by a lake. At one point, their 5 year old son waded into the lake, stepped into deep water, and sank out of sight. None of the adult in the family knew how to swim, so they ran up and down the shore in panic, screaming for help. A man happened by, who sized up the situation, leaped into the lake, and rescued the boy, who was frightened but unharmed, only to hear the mother ask with irritation, "Where is Johnny's cap?"

So often we focus on small disappointments that cause us to grumble and complain, rather than focusing on the wonderful things God has brought into our lives, not the least of which is His everlasting love and salvation. When we complain about the small dissatisfactions of life, we're asking, in effect, "Where's Johnny's cap?" Paul wrote, "In everything give thanks".(I Thess. 5:18). We may not be thankful for everything that comes our way, but we can give thanks in everything. It may be difficult to be grateful when we lose our job, or our health fails, but we can be thankful for the good that God has brought to us in this life, and grateful for the life to come. It could always be alot worse.

My son, David, is celebrating his birthday today. He has brought much happiness to our family, and I am certainly proud of him. Wish I lived closer to him, instead of a state away, so I could be a party of his special day. But, MOM made him a card(he loves to go fishing up in CO.), and thought I'd share it with you. Baby Shower Card

I am happy to say that I am getting a new grandson real soon. Today is his shower, and this is the 3-D card that I sent along with his gift. I wasn't real pleased with it, but baby shower cards are another one of "those" cards that can give me a fit. TFL

PARTY TIME

Wanted to share with you another handmade card that I received from my friend, Marlene. I met Marlene back in the late 1960's when she and I attended a trade school together. Our friendship has grown over the years, and we still remain in touch, although she lives in TN. Thanks for the fun birthday card, Marlene!

Today I am celebrating my 60th birthday. Glad that God has allowed me to see this day. I am SIMPLY BLESSED! He has been with me all these years, through childhood, those teenage years, times of sorrow of losing my parents AND my husband, and here I am at this season of my life. If I ever needed the Lord before, I sure do need Him now. My husband and my 2 sons, along with their families, helped me celebrate this special event several weeks ago. It was my first birthday party. Can you believe? And, how fun to share it with my family and friends who care so much for me. I received several handmade cards that I'd like to share with you today. These are from 2 of my nieces: Peggy and Lori. They are sisters, and do a great job on their cards. Peggy used the Magnolia image, so that you could tell which is which. Think about me today, and say a prayer for me, for God's blessings to continue upon my life. With love..............JOYCE

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to all the guys out there. Sure wish my Dad was around, but I have been without him for many years now. Glad for all the wonderful memories we made. This is the card I made for my husband. I didn't have a pattern, so had to "guess at it". Think he will like it, and it will bring a smile? Sure hope so, as I want his day to be very special.

IN SYMPATHY!

An elderly couple in our church, lost their son to cancer, and to make it all worse, it happened on Mother's Day. How my heart goes out to them. I can't even imagine losing a son at all, but to lose him on Mother's Day? My prayers are with the family.
